It is part of our “bread and butter” to keep everything working sweetly once it has been installed and commissioned.
Most sewage equipment operates under extremely arduous conditions. Sewer gas containing sulphur, ammonia, and other corrosive chemicals is always, and this, combined with a constantly humid environment, can destroy ordinary materials within weeks. Luckily the advent of modern plastic materials and the use of stainless steel means that a reasonable working life can be expected from all of the components.
Notwithstanding this, parts do wear eventually, so our scheduled servicing programme is designed to keep things operating without major repairs for as long as possible. This is achieved by regular visits to each site. For domestic installations this is usually only once a year, but for commercial installations it can be as often as once a month. Each manufacturer provides guidelines on the required interval between service visits. An essential part of sewage plant maintenance is de-sludging by vacuum tanker, and guidelines on this must always be strictly observed.
It is one of the Environment Agency rules that treatment equipment is regularly serviced by suitably qualified engineers to reduce the possibility of a breakdown and thus reduce the risk of environmental pollution from untreated sewage.
We can schedule regular maintenance visits where we appear automatically, or we can send you a reminder that maintenance is due or we can leave you to call us. We do not mind if you have your favourite tanker company to empty your sewage plant, but if you need someone we can organise that too.
